Verizon’s DVR. Apple and the Pod people. Kawasaki’s advice.

Verizon is set to launch a multi-room DVR tomorrow. Similar to a TiVo, but you can access all your saved shows on two other TVs as well. The unit also doubles as a media hub to store your pictures and music. Media centers and multi-room DVRs are not new, but Verizon is tying this new DVR into its fiber network which they’re spending $20 billion to build out over the next 10 years. Cable companies are scared, and they should be.

As should any business with the word “Pod” in their name. It appears Apple has sent a threatening letter to Profit Pod, a handheld device for remotely reading the metrics of arcade machines. All the other Pod people have been forewarned. That includes you, podiatrists.

And Guy Kawasaki has posted some great advice on how to get a job in Silicon Valley. His preparations include show up early for tips from the receptionist, and grill the first person that interviews you with questions like “What are you concerned about in filling this role?” and “What are the hot buttons of the other people I’ll be meeting?”

It’s a must read, plus for some casual reading I’ve got a site with more than 2800 classic comic books. Download them for free Captain Marvel.
