Web 2.0 companies from Israel

There’s a rash of Web 2.0 conferences going on in town.

There’s the Web 2.0 conference. The Web 2.2 conference. And yesterday I attended Israel Web Tour, a conference of Israeli Web 2.0 companies.

For those of you not yet in the know, Web 2.0 is the hot new buzzword to describe the next wave of Internet applications most often based on the power of social networks.

My favorite companies showcased included Yedda, a site where people share knowledge. Sort of like Yahoo! Answers, but it’s actually working and it’s also portable. Which means you can include topic-specific questions and answers on your own site.

Another one that seemed too good to be true, was SkyLow, an aggregator of budget airlines which Expedia and Travelocity don’t include. Most useful in Europe where there are about 100 budget airlines. In the demo I saw I actually witness the program pull up a roundtrip ticket for a dollar.

And my last favorite company was Trusted Opinion, a social network of your friends’ opinions. The coolest part of the application was the 3D animated visual of your network’s opinions.

Check out the rest of the companies showcased.
