WebEx SOLD. TellMe SOLD. HP execs IN THE CLEAR.

by David Spark on March 15, 2007

WebEx is being sold to Cisco for a whopping $3.2 billion. That’s double the price of YouTube. Add this acquisition to Cisco’s earlier purchase of Tribe.net’s social networking technology and it’s clear that Cisco is making a strong software play against Microsoft and its collaboration tool, Sharepoint.

And at the same time, Microsoft purchased TellMe for a measly $800 million. TellMe is a voice recognition mobile search application that Microsoft hopes will replace the need to call 411. TellMe’s technology last year also made $100 million running large call centers like FedEx’s.

The HP pretexting case has finally come to a conclusion. Yesterday, a California judge dismissed charges against Patricia Dunn and three others at HP. If you remember, they faked identities in order to get phone records of journalists and directors at the company to see who was leaking company information.
