This is a great series. I love Adam Curry's phrase "Preditor", producer and editor. I recently built my own podcast studio, and I definitely see producer/editor as the as the future for podcasting. Producing / editing has never been cheaper. I wrote an article about how to build a podcast studio and use your iPhone for conducting interviews for those interested: http://www.kenmorico.com/blog/index.php/2009/10/how-i-created-a-podcast-studio-for-less-than-150/

Adam Carolla uses the promo code that Curry mentions in his podcast. Seems like that's the way to generate revenue with podcasting.

I should note that Adam Curry puts his own spin (Producers know their audience best) on what is really CPA (cost per action). Note that he negates my explanation of what he's doing as CPA, but that's what it is. He's just smartly come up with a new name for it.

Mevio has been constantly updating and tweeking its model. It's working for them.

Great interview.
I'm not sure why I didn't know about Mevio but thanks for the info. This is the first post of yours that I have read.

This such a creative business model but like William I wonder how users build their audiences. Also why isn't the site more two way. I think it's a little to TV-ish. I'm also not sure how people are coming back to watch their shows. It would be cool if there were some sort of "following" function.

Spark,

What a great idea. These podcasts are enormously helpful. I've seen no other collection of information like what is contained in them anywhere else.

You're always asking the right questions, and the range of different business models you've uncovered is impressive.

One thing you might ask, if you continue the series, is how the folks built their audience in the first place. Did they advertise? Strictly word of mouth? Email campaigns? Pleas for more audience?

Anyway, great series. Thanks.
