In a classic stupid move, I asked Vint Cerf, Google’s Chief Internet Evangelist, about Google’s culture of failure. What I meant to say, as Cerf corrected me, was “how does Google foster a culture of tolerating failure?” His explanation:
- All employees are encouraged to spend 20 percent of their time on any project they want.
- Larry Page urges Googleites to be more ambitious. He always wants them to shoot higher.
- If something fails, it’s important to understand why.
- Daily Motion squeezes YouTube. Google Answers, doesn’t. Yahoo! rebuffs Google’s advances.
- Enterprise 2.0 Conf: Age doesn't matter and other realizations for enterprise 2.0 culture
- Scary Yahoo! videos. Bush and "The Google." Google lawsuits.
- ATI swallowed. Video Skype. Zune. Google Traffic.
- Firefox 2.0. Veeker. Google Custom Search.
