Absorbing blogging advice

May 4, 2007

I’m slowly absorbing advice from the blogging community as to how to write/promote my blog. Every week I see myself adding a new element or approaching the community at a new angle. And when I can I provide thanks to those offering tips and advice.

The one piece of advice I unfortunately can’t adhere to is to stay in a niche. It is the smartest advice, but the issue is my interest in technology has always been widespread. I host a very mainstream radio technology segment that requires me to hit all technology topics that affect consumers, specifically in the Bay Area. On top of that, I work as an analyst that covers such a wide range of new technologies. So with my lack of focus, I hope readers appreciate my angle and analysis on all issues.

One piece of advice you’ll see me taking in the post above is to provide a summary of the best posts.  It’s an obvious thing to do, but I needed DoshDosh to give me the impetus to do it. The site looks excellent and I’ll be going to it again for advice.

I was going to add a “related links” plugin here on my blog (hosted by Wordpress), but I couldn’t find one that I was happy with. If anyone can recommend one that they like, please let me know. Thanks.
