Hi-tech Hooker Heels

Friday night my girlfriend and I went to see a movie that was part of the Sex Worker Film Festival in San Francisco. That’s what I love about this city. We now have a sex worker film festival. There’s very little they won’t have a film festival out here. On Friday night we attended the Roaming Hooker Fest which was a series of films that you had to hunt down. They had a projector in a truck and they were projecting movies on a wall that was filled with spray painted gang tags. One of the films we saw was an advertisement for something called “The Aphrodite Project,” a line of hi-tech footware for sex workers. This smells of a hoax, because this does not appear to be an actual working device and the video shows a cobbler putting in old world craftsmanship into these f-me platform shoes. Features include:

  • Built in GPS alarm button to signal police and sex worker groups.
  • A problem client blog.
  • Secret compartment for storing keys, cash, and condoms.
  • A piercing alarm to draw attention and scare off rapists and muggers.
  • An LCD screen for advertisements. Think P&G would like to advertise shampoo on that?
