Yahoo! buy AOL? MySpace fingerprints your tunes. Don’t make a deal with Google Video.

Fortune magazine says Yahoo! is in negotiations to buy AOL. The online powerhouse blew it with YouTube – a content house on the way up. Will they be able to pull it off with AOL – a content house on the way down? Yahoo! has been trying for quite some time to make an original content play of its own.

MySpace looks to East Bay company Gracenote and its audio fingerprinting technology to block copyrighted music that MySpace users upload to their personal pages.

And don’t bother lining up to make a revenue share deal with Google Video. Unless you’ve got 1000 hours of content behind you, I’d suggest you go with a smaller outfit like Revver that can make deals with just a single video.
