Cingular steals Apple’s thunder. ICANN rejects .xxx, but not porn. YouTube’s TestTube baby.

Make sure you reserve some summer vacation money and about half a grand for the iPhone because it’s set to release on June 11th so says an unnamed source from Cingular. While Cingular may have loose lips when it comes to release dates, Apple doesn’t and I’m sure Steve Jobs is not so happy someone at a company he can’t control is leaking information.

And you’re just going to have to settle with the .com domain for all your pornography. ICANN, the organization responsible for assigning top level domains like .com, .net, and .org rejected a proposal for a .xxx domain. While ICANN’s decisions need to be made purely on a technical basis, politics and other countries’ concerns creep in as well.

Last night YouTube went offline and got an upgrade. As part of its upgrade it added TestTube-a training ground for new YouTube projects similar to Google Labs. My favorite TestTube creation is Streams which allows you to chat live with people who also happen to be watching the same video you are at any given moment.
